1928年，Dunn（L.C.Dunn）将来自英国繁殖的小鼠与Castle(W.Castle)的灰色小鼠进行交配，通过近交培育而成。自发性睾丸畸胎瘤（congenital testicular teratomas）的发生率比较高。肢体运动神经元轴突脱髓鞘。年龄相关的听力丧失，Cdh23ah1纯合子（ah1=the age related hearing loss 1 mutation），大约在3月龄之前开始添加丧失。
